AK Diesel -

I have been on Garage Journal for nearly 6 years, but this is my first post - I respect the forum, and don't want to share anything that is not relevant to the forum members.

I can address your post directly.

Shark, Inc. has been manufacturing our Shark Professional Workstations for 7 years. Prior to that we specialized in stainless steel toolboxes (Shark Stainless) overall, we've been in business for just under 10 years.

The product you saw on Craigslist is from our NADA trade-show booth.

Our product is a bit sturdier than the competing offerings. How can we say this? Check out the 4800lb Jeep Grand Cherokee on our standard service carts.

Being a newer company, we had the luxury of taking the best the industry had to offer and set out to improve every element that we could when designing our Shark Professional line. We have been awarded two red dot design awards in Germany, no doubt due to our timeless designs and anvil build quality. Our toolboxes and cabinetry utilize heavy gauge steel that is often 2-gauges thicker than our competitors, our worktops are twice as thick as theirs (12-Guage) and our fit and finish is unparalleled.

You can view our product first-hand at the New Kendall Lexus / Toyota next time you are in Anchorage. There are 50 service bays in this new facility.

You can view more at www.facebook.com/Sharkprofessional
If you "like" what you see, we'd be honored if you'd like and share our Facebook page.

Please let me know if you would like to see more - I can also answer any questions you may have.

Cheers -

Because nice stuff is just expensive. Quality materials, good fabrication equipment, people knowledgeable to run the equipment, designers, etc just cost a lot of money. Low volume and customized production add to the costs. A single CNC press brake just for bending the metal accurately can run from $25,000 to well over $50,000.

Shark,
Thanks for letting us know of your products. They are very nice and I like the use of the mobile cabinets to move vehicle around better then the low profile dollies.
I really like the bench top material and craftsmanship you offer and this could work for me in one particular location in my shop.
As much as I hate to go to car dealers I will sacrifice myself to look at your cabinets.

AKDiesel,

You're quite welcome, please do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything further.
I will PM you the service director's name at Kendall Toyota / Lexus.

I would enjoy hearing from you and getting your feedback once you've had an opportunity to see the workstations in person. Please share your impressions with the forum.

Here are a couple of quick pictures of this install.

These are our service carts / technician carts, they dock in the 36" 2-Door cabinets that flank the toolboxes in this configuration. They are not intended as wheel dollies, we knew the carts were "built" just wanted to see how they held up to the weight of the Jeep.

We were not surprised, but pleased with the results. There is a video on our Facebook page.

Cheers,

I really don't think those carts were made to roll a car around. Unless Shark says different, I'm going to say that's a crazy stupid idea. Great demonstration, but not something you want to try at home.

Agree that any cabinet designed that well is not going to sell for HF prices. You either run with the big dogs or stay under the porch. Me, I like a lot of porch.

Zeke,

You're absolutely right. This was done a whim to test the strength of the carts.
No better time than when the big dogs from Kendall were onsite checking out our install and when our rental Jeep was such a willing target.

I just been e-mailing back and fourth with Shark. He sent me some pics of some of there carts and they are amazing. Price point is right on with Snap-On and the sort so out of my budget. Also checked out there web page and it seems the rest of there line up is built as impressive as there carts. Only thing I can say is watch out truck brands there is a new dog in town. Now excuse me while I clean up my drool and figure out how to sell my wife, kids, dog, house, and other toolboxes so I can buy a full Shark set up :D

I have to admit, that's a great idea.

Your stuff looks nice but it's out of my meager wages price range. On the other hand, if I were to win the lottery. . . . you'd be getting a call.
