Just got a set of sae flare nut wrenches from sk. I have tons of sk and I love it all. Just worried if the end on the 5/8 is going to affect its usefulness.

Yep, that's a problem. They shouldn't give you a issue, I've had nothing but good experiences with S&K.

One of my Snap-On flare wrenches is similar to that. Not quite as deep as yours, but it has worked fine for me so far.

Since you bought new I would send it back for replacement.
