picked this up at a local tag sale for a couple dollars, i bought it because it looked homemade/ shop made????
Part of the handle is hollowed out, with removable cap. No markings, or initials anywhere.

Pretty sad to think that someone spent a lot of time on this and let it rust, and someone goes and sells it for a couple bucks.....

now i just have to get the rust off. bead blast would be nice... any other ideas?

It could go either way, factory made or shop made. Back in the 50's and 60's they used to make screwdriver sets that nested in a series of handle with some having the largest one being a small hammer. How big is that one?

Looks very similar to something we made in highschool metals class.

yeap

my class we made multiple heads. Steel sledge type, Steel ball peen, and Aluminum mallet all which could be changed out. The plug in the bottom was for a punch we had to make.
