is this a snap on KRA61D?

I saw this box in person last night and it is not in as good condition as it seems in the picture. It is not stamped snap on anywhere i could see. I believe it's a kra61d but what are those round metal covers on the front of the lid? He's asking 400.00 for that box and a matching bottom cabinet. they both need to be refinished. I'm thinking that might be a bit steep?

Looks like a KRA61 to me, I doubt it would be fake. There's plenty of those old Snap On boxes to go around. I assume the price is for empty boxes and those tools aren't included. $400 seems high to me but that's just my value on them. I would probably not even want to pay $250 for them and likely just move on to wait for a nicer set if it was something I really wanted.

The round things on the lid I have never seen. I have a KRA58C (I think, maybe B?) and it's got the 6 top drawers. It looks just like that, minus the 4 round things.

The lid looks weird, but overall based on that picture, I would still think that is an SO. It should be stamped on the back, they can be hard to see. I bought a KR 300 and it took me five minutes to find the stamp on the back it was so faint. Personally $100 top, $400 is sky high nuts.

FWIW, I've got a KRA58, KRA59 and a KRA61. They're about as good as friction slide top boxes can be.

While $400 seems high, impossible to conclusively state that without seeing a photo of the matching bottom cabinet. If they are both sound, albiet slight cosmetic challenges, I'd be seriously dickering with the seller.

Your decision, but I'd never again buy a box or boxes I planned on refinishing. Since I don't mind a bit of patina if the box is sound, it's moot. To me, refinishing tool boxes is more work for less ROI than anything I've ever done. BTDTNA.
