Hi everyone, I just joined the other day after lurking for a while. This place is amazing!!

I saw this local add on C/L and was wondering if this is a true Snap-On product and if you think it is a good deal. I was thinking of getting it for my brother in law for the holidays and since I have very limited knowledge on Snap-On stuff, I thiought I would ask here.

He wants $200 for it and said it was recently painted with automotive paint.

If you are looking at the back of the box, in the lower right corner, the model number and date it was made will be stamped into back. Make sure before you buy it as I don't think the Snap-on logo was ever placed at that location......

Looks like a late 80's early 90's tech school size box. The lock is on the top now but was in the middle back then. It should also have T shaped keys with the SO logo.

It's a bit older than that. My 1985 KRA-380 was identical to that, except it had the newer logo (in the same place).

Yes, it is a Snap on box. Don't know the model right off, but here is my wife's. I bought it used in 1988-89, I think.

Thanks for the input everyone. I went and checked it out and saw it had a Snap-On stamp on the back in the upper right hand corner of the box. The only issue I saw was that it didn't have a key. He told me his Snap-On guy would be by this week and he would try to get a key for it. He also had stoppers on order for the handle that should be in this week as well.

We chatted for a bit and I ended up walking out the door with it for $130. Already filled it up with my tools (changed my mind on giving it to my brother-in-law) and the wife unit is very happy that the garage is much more organized already.

If I get the key and the stoppers for the handle, that would be great. If not, I am still happy with the deal.

Again, thanks for the input and look forward to hanging around this place if you all don't mind. 1st round of beers is on me.

I've got one of the later versions with the lock on the top and yes, it came from a tech school student. His crack-head brother had jimmied it open and sold his tools!

I bought the otherwise like-new box for $75 and mostly straightened a couple of bent drawer lips. It isn't perfect, but then, I don't do new prices either. Great box for the money. It is in the basement and part of the #2 set.

Look past the NAPA box on top and the 3/4" PA Sturdevant torque wrench and you'll see it on the bottom. From the side, the drawer pull trim still shows some wrinkles, but still one of my better buys.

Don't know the model#,but it was a step down from the KR59.You could get it with either the drawers at the bottom,or a bin. This was about 72-74,and lots of techs at that time had one.

&0s era industrial sales box would be my guess. We have some at work, and the logos are in various places. They are otherwise have the same appearance, except we paint all boxes red.

Mine has the stick-on label - KRA 3027 - Made in Canada. No production date I could find, but not more than ten years old.

Thats a 70's box and is what most good auto techs were using at the time. It wasn't a starter box in the day. That said the guy really screwed the pooch when he painted it blue. There is only one real color for that box

I would strip it down and repaint the factory color, a steal from $130!

Stripping it down and painting it red is on the agenda! Will probably wait until spring for it but when I do, I will post some pics of it.

It is fair to say that this place now has me addicted to tools and equipment more than ever.

If the guy calls me back with the key and the stoppers I am going to be real happy.
