i dont like the screw clamps so I tried something.
I had a HF rubber hose which fell apart (made in India)
I bought a NT Hitachi air hose made of green PVC but had the wrong ends for $5 (ends too big)
So I cut off the ends
using a torch, burned out the rubber saving the ferrels and correct sized barbs
Took the cleaned up compressed ferrel, soaped it with dish soap and pressed it onto the hose. tapped it on with a hammer etc... till the hose end hit the end of the ferrel.
Then soaped up the barb and screwed, twisted, hammered and pushed it into the hose.
It holds air pressure.
I dont think this will work for regular rubber hose since rubber may have too much friction. It does work with those slick shiny PVC hoses.
the Hitachi barb ends were a dual piece which had an internal rubber ring and the nut can swivel around separate from the barb. So that was burned up in case you were somehow going to reuse Hitachi ends, see if the barb separates from the nut cause you will need to replace the o ring..
