I've got a 3 piece craftsman ball bearing box setup, but the top and middle chests are the 12" deep ones, and I want a little more room up top, I've been watching this one, and this is the cheapest it's been. It's 18" deep, same as my bottom low end box.

They've also got the 16" deep ones but they're not griplatch, not that I need griplatch it, but I can't find the regular ones that are 18" deep.

Another option, is the 18" deep middle box with griplatch on sale now for 167, I could just replace my 2 drawer middle with one of those..

I wouldn't be losing any drawers(4 on the chest, and 2 on the middle), but I would be gaining 6" depth.

Ok fair enough, and I was thinking about recommending the Viper 26" if you didn't care about matching, but then remembered that they are only 12 deep...

I have a BB Griplatch right now and can tell you that it's not much of an upgrade from the BB. I plan on finding a used truck brand (US) box that's lower and wider when I can justify spending the $$$$.

Yeah I personally don't like the craftsman boxes they feel super flimsy. Although they are better with BB, I would prefer detents to griplatch. But if its what you want, I don't think that is a bad price on it.

If there is a Menards in your location look at performax tool boxes. Better construction than the CMAN boxes, better ball bearings, and a cool latching feature (push the drawer in 8/10 of the way, and it gets grabbed and pulled in magically :p). Cheaper too and they should fit in with your CMAN boxes you already have.

I was in the same spot, didn't want 12", but I know I didn't spend $300 and I have int and top in I think 16" depth, so far works well. Almost bought the top box you linked to, but guy at the swap meet wouldn't budge from $75, and I was thinking more like $50 or $60 given I needed to carry it a block. I think I got mine during a clearance at OSH.

That would have been a great deal, depending on condition of course.

So let me get this straight. A savings of $15-25 on an already great deal would have made that box so much easier to carry?....Some people.

jshultz78, I agree on the 12" deep box issue. Seems like they waste so much space on a 18" deep bottom. If you are patient you might be able to find an older Matco or Snap On 18" deep, 26"wide top box. The Cman box is not bad, just not as good as a used truck brand box. If you get a chance, go and play with the boxes you are looking at in the store. Some of the 16"+ deep cman boxes get pretty flimsy in the drawer as that is a large span of unsupported metal. I personally would choose grip latch over standard BB, due to the jolt when you close the standard BB drawers.

I let price be a factor in a lot of deals I look at. If it had been a bit later in the day I would have got it for $60, but I needed to leave. Chest on top of int is a bit tall even for me to use too, so I was mixed on buying it, and let the price decide.

Some of those BB drawers on the CMAN are only rated to 25 pounds too! That is absolutely horrid....
