I found a solder gun with a few lb rolls in a work bench. There was also several dozen piles of what appears to be copper solder. Here is a pic. I never heard of actual copper solder.. then again I don't solder.

it looks like pieces of copper rod. A soldering gun is not hot enough to melt copper. Solder is a combination of lead and tin, and is silver in color.

Yeah I know the basics of solder. This was just with all the soldering things, so I wasn't sure what it was used for.

It could be Sil-Fos but that would require an air/acetylene or hotter torch to melt. You can tell if it is Sil-Fos by trying to melt it onto a piece of copper pipe . It requires no flux to stick.

Heliarc was the trade name for TIG welding when it was first invented. I think it was the Linde Company.

All the Sil-Fos I've ever used was square shaped and silver colored. It is a silver, copper and phosphorus brazing alloy.

I don't know what you have.

Are they carbon in the center ?? that would be Carbon arc rods . Are they flexible , can you bend them ?? It looks like to me that some are pinched, like they were cut with a shear . They might just be trimmings from longer pieces of copper rod. If they are plain copper , its worh $3-4 a pound at a recycler...

Take it to a scrap yard. I think copper is about $2.50/lb. That looks like it might have some weight to it. You'd be surprised at what you'll get. I bought a bunch of brass brazing rods at an estate sale for $5. Took them to the scrap yard and got $95.
