What you're reading on the handle is for the handle, not the head. Look for marks on the head. Looks more like it was intended for lath work than shingles, but I'm no expert on that

That's what I'm doing wrong then, no wonder nothing comes up, thanks.

Someone may have broken the original handle and purchased a new one from Sears, back whenever. There may be a name and information on the head. Looks to be in really good condition, whatever the age.

Sometimes it is a tough battle to figure out if the handle is original or not, I find it best if I can compare two of the same product together; which 9 out of ten times just does not happen.

In order to date it we would need to see a close-up of the head itself and only then if we could see some kind of stamp in the metal itself. To bad today they are cutting corners and using the laser technology which does not last in most cases.

Sigh don't get me started...
