That'd be great for a working museum. :lol_hitti

For someone actually wanting to use the machine, at that price point one can get a much more capable machine for the money. Start at scrap price or drop a zero, which ever is higher.

Only a 1.5 hp electric motor! Probably just enough to spin the shaft (if it's not bound up).

Eh, except for that thing has a very low top end, and remember that torque is inversely proportional to speed reduction. It won't be a hogging machine (won't be at any HP, just not rigid enough), but I doubt that the 1.5hp will be very limiting.

I'm not sure. I was guessing that it's a 16" SBL. I think they typically have a 3 hp motor. Bigger chucks and heavier work piece capabiltiy.

Maybe I just like overkill. I have a 1.5 hp motor on my 9" SBL even though they originally came with 1/2 hp motors.

Yeah, that's just asking for problems IMHO. I hope you use the clutch when power feeding. My 10" has a 3/4hp and it stalled for a second once, I got a bit heavy handed on a parting tool, split second it broke the tool clean off.

It's not a problem for me. I can adjust the tension on the drive belts.

LOL... I saw those when I Googled... What is curious.. I remember the old fashion model glue (15 cents at the Ben Franklin 5 & 10 store)... and remember when they "safe'd" it up.. The Testor brand "good stuff" tubes were orange.. so not sure what the gray is all about in those pictures..

The grey tube was Testors filler, like bondo. Orange tube was the good glue. Then the blue tube, the safe stuff, which would have been fine if it had actually worked as glue, which it didn't do very well.
