This isn't a this one vs that one. This is about is this Husky 46'' box worth $175,,,,lol. I know other's like the Yukon better. So do I. But I don't have the money for one. I don't need or want to spend that kind of money on a box. It will be a second box for a shop I'm setting up in my basement. This is 5 minutes from my house.

The issue is there is no key, and there's a small dent in the bottom side. He says it doesn't effect anything. Says it was used in an office. No drawer liners or power strip. I think it's only 18'' deep? Not sure.

So are you a buyer for $175,,,,lol. Thanks

these are $400 new. I think you're looking at a deal as long as there is no other secret issues or something.

I picked up four of the 24" depth version of this box a few years ago when they were on sale. I had to sort through what they had in stock like it was the lumber rack to find ones without dents and scratches.

I think they are a good value. I'll probably replace the casters eventually, they are adequate but I ended up adding some extra grease to help them move a little easier. I reconfigure the shop layout depending on the current project(s) so these get moved around a good bit.

Depends on your purpose and needs? I have a need for the exact cabinet for a specific spot and purpose in my wood shop so considering the price vs new (even with the dent on the back), I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Would I buy it to be my one and only mechanics tool box or for a tool box/workbench? No, too small IMO for that. I would want something 24" deep and at least 60" wide for that purpose.

Universal question: Is ___ "worth it"? 🤦‍♂️
Universal answer: Depends. :dunno:

Is $175 statistically significant to you? Do you need a toolbox or is this an impulse thing? Will this box meet your needs or is it a compromise? Wife on board? Will the color match your décor?

Right now I'm space limited and don't need another toolbox, wouldn't take it if you gave me $175. Doesn't match my décor either...

I've got one of those boxes. I purchased it 6-7 years ago when Home Depot used to put them on their Black Friday sale for $200. It's been a decent tool chest for the money. It's not as heavy duty as the newer models, but perfectly serviceable provided you don't overload the drawers.

The missing key can easily be replaced. There will be a number code etched on the face of the lock. You can then do a search for "Husky 123 replacement key" (123 being your lock code) and you'll find a number of places selling them.

One example...

EDIT: Looks like Amazon sells replacement keys as well. Might be a better deal to go through them if you get free shipping.

I’d buy it at $175. Both me and my daughter have one. She uses her for hobby stuff-Lego.
i did cut plywood for the backs of the drawer fronts so it wouldn’t get dinged up.

Its a deal as far as I'm concerned. Bought 2 of them about 5 years ago (I think on sale for $400 each) , they are holding up nicely. I never lock them so no keys would be a non issue for me

Fortunately that "small" dent is in the rear bottom section and once the tool box is against the wall it will be hidden. However that "small" dent would concern me enough to try and straighten it out a bit more before loading it up. As is I'd only consider it at a different price point with a damaged goods discount rather than just used.

I have one of those boxes also bought at one of their black Friday sales. I was trying to decide between that or paying a bit more for the wider one but this one was on sale so it was an easy decision. Good quality, it's 7 years old now and the drawers still slide smoothly and hold. It looks like a good price these days.

For 175 I'd be in on that. Its a good box. Are they soft close drawers? I have one that's 24" deep. I like the idea of 18" because of where mine is and it can be a pain parking the cars in the garage with the 24. I wonder if I would wish for 24" depth if I had an 18er.

Wow. I didn't know I had all these replies.

I got it for the $175. He wanted $200. Couldn't get him any lower,,,,lol.

The dent is on the side, not the back. I was worried it would affect the drawer closing. But it does not. I'm not even going to worry about trying to straighten it out. Worried it might pop the paint off.

Unfortunately it does not have the soft close drawers. But for the money I think it's nice. It was used in an office as a snack/food cart,,,lol. It's super clean.

Now I gotta manage to get it down in the basement.

I have owned a couple of the 46" x 18" black Husky's 2 of the 24" models. Never had any issues from any of them besides the last one had dent in the exact same spot as the picture you posted. Years ago, when I bought my first in 2017, I think the price was 229 for a new one pre sales tax, and that was before the china toolbox tax and rampant inflation. I would say it's worth the 175. I still have one 18" and two 24" inch models. The last was the white 24" in 2022 and costed 419 I think.

Half the price of new is a good deal. They are nice cabinets with good sturdy and smooth glides on the drawers. I like mine just fine.

So the original asking price was $200 and not $175.

With the damage, I would have pondered on it for several minutes, pulling out the drawer. Then offered the $150 in cash.

In the end, if you're happy with the price, that's all that matters. Get busy and put it to work.
