I have a Mac Economizer lower, found this upper for $125, scratches but no big dents, everything works. Worth the money?

I think so. As long as it's in good shape, no big dents, works properly.

How much would it cost you to buy something as good as that box new and you'll have your answer! :pimpflash

If it's in working order I don't know how anyone could possibly pass it up for only $125.

I dunno Krusty, I think you're correct that a couple drawers don't look right. I'm not sure if it's just the pic or what but I'd still check it out for that price.

I'm wondering how the later full length extruded aluminum handles would look on there. The holes are already drilled for the current handles and the full length ones go on there real easy with #8 x 1/2" hex head sheet metal screws - if I remember correctly. :headscrat

something doesn't look right with the shoebox drawer.

I think that the spaces between the drawers look too big because the drawers below the are opened a little.

For me it wouldn't be as much about the $125 ($150 would be pushin' it though), but more about where the hell I would find the space to put it!

Here is my top/bottom with long handles for comparison but mine doesn't have small drawers; the bottom does! The top is a Mac Tools 50th anniversary edition; circa 1988 and the bottom is early to mid 90s vintage.

Yeah, pretty cool stuff; I bought the bottom at a damaged freight store for less the $100 and the top at a pawn shop for $60 or something. The top was missing all the slider clips for some reason; had to buy new ones from the mac dealer. The bottom was tweaked pretty bad; at the body shop, my coworker straightened it for me with a power pac (you can see the "bend point" areas by looking at the left top and bottom right corners of the bottom box). The boxes are good but when really weighted down (like my bottom drawer stuffed full of air tools) are hard to open/close; it is more like "shoving" it open/close! The Mac/Matco boxes have a certain styling "charm" to them; at the body shop one guy had a really large Mac box that I thought was pretty cool.

Merk, you might have the right box in mind; it was in the early to mid 90s and before they put all the big "Mac Tools" badges on the big drawers, the badges on it were metal just like mine, the styling was just like mine, as were the drawer pulls (I think); the model # you mentioned might be it. This is a fuzzy pic but here is one for sale like you mentioned: http://www.usedcartools.com/cgi-bin...results_format=long&db_id=369&query=retrieval
