Miller helmets are the best IMHO! However I would jump up from the Pro Hobby helmet. I believe thats the one you have referenced. I have the elite and I love it. I dont have the top model that has the ability to adjust all the different levels and I would expect not many people do. The helmet that sits between the Elite and the ProHobby is a great helmet. Its what I was going to get but it was not in stock when I bought my helmet. I believe its the Performer or Performance something like that. I would look at that one. I think it has the dark, light and then a grinding mode that it goes to. That is a nice feature. I find that I use my helmet for many things now even torch work instead of glasses due to its ability to more or less have a middle setting.

The adjustment and comfort of the Miller helmets is what sold me. Go to your local welding supply place most likey they have the Miller helmets there and try them on. My dealer actually has a few that arent perfect that are for display and they will even show you what they are like if you are regular customer..they let me go in the back and check the helmet out while someone was working on a welder it was very helpful.

This is a very good helmet. I have used this in a metal fabrication shop and it
works great. I used it daily for 6 hours at a time 6 days a week for 1 year. I no longer
work at the shop and that is why I no longer use it. I consider this helmet
to be above hobby level. You will not be disappointed. The only complaint I
have about it is when working in sun light the sun will make it darken up. Though
I must admit I never played with the sensitivity settings to adjust for the sun.

My dad has a Miller, and it works great. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what model it is.

NOTE -- Whichever one you get, make sure and store it in a climate controlled environment. The only problem my dad has had is having to replace a lense unit because he was keeping it in the garage that was getting cold at night. The temp fluctuating caused it to go out.

that hood is probably fine for your moderate use.iv owned optrel, miller elite, jackson next gen,and on my third speedglas.i would suggest looking for a used speedglas since they just introduced a new model, and people will probably be upgrading.optrels are nice but kind of bulky in my opinion.the miller elite is awsome,i have one in alaska, but speedglas is by far my favorite.most comfortable, straightforward, lightweight, and durable.

sorry to bring this post back up, but i want to place my order on my new helmet perhaps tomorrow.

i am looking into the Optrel Helmets. i like the grinding feature cause i find myself welding / grinding a lot. so i guess the Optrel Satellite is the best out right now. looked into pricing and its fair, under 300 shipped.

We get speedglas at work and i really like them and they are very light. Go to your local welding shop and try on a few that are on display. Get which ever one is the most comfortable one. And to answer your question yes miller does have some very nice hoods.

I use my miller elite for 8 hours a day 5 days a week and 5 hours a day on saturday. It has grind mode as well. I bought mine used for $100 from a co-worker, I have seen them sold used for $150-$250 depending on condition. I just got lucky at Christmas time when he needed some quick cash.

miller has a good name so I am sure its got to be a good one.
personally I really like my Jackson helmet.

when it comes to welding helmets I would always go with a known brand
my eyes are too valuable for cheap ****

I also have a Miller digital elite.

You will only get one set of eyes. After that they will issue you the red stick with the rubber tip.
