1. brand A, PH 2, I've had it 15+ yrs.
2. brand B, PH 1, I've had it 2 yrs.
3. brand C, PH 2, I just got it in the mail.
4. brand C, PH 1, I've had it 18.5 years.
5. brand D, PH 2 bit for reference.

I bought # 3 because I had # 4 and find it very useful, and like the length & handle.

I understand a same blank shaft might be used for PH 2 and PH 3. And I realize a lot of it might be perception instead of actual size.

But does # 3 **** as far as # 2 Phillips go?

Are there measurements I might take of # 3 to make sure it's a worthwhile # 2, without using the darn thing? It looks stupid. I wish it were more like # 4.

Stanley-made driver? I've seen that type of tip on Blackhawk and Stanley branded drivers.

Really can't tell much by looking. How well does it fit in a screw?

You're going to have to just try it. I have a Blue point 4.5" long bit(think it's discontinued) that has a tiny head, it's a PH2 but it looks almost like a PH1...it works just as well and often better as any other quality PH2 bit.

I have a red Mac with that style tip and never had a problem with it

I have some PH #2 impact driver bits that look like that, and they don't seem to grip the screws quite as well as other driver bits.
