You know...

I just had a look at some old catalogues & I don't see that roller cabinet (or anything even similar). The top box is legit - a 9980 Utility Box - as shown, but I just don't know about that cab...

Man, I am glad to hear you say that. That was the $64,000 question. My buddy and I are ready to go take a look but, that bottom roller just wasn't looking right. Looks cool, but...

That set up is just way beyond cool.
Its in the "knock somebody down to get to first" category.

I'm don't know much about Plvmb and their history but I sure don't leave any of it laying when I find it for sale ,which isn't very often.

If the Lockheed bit is true , is it possible that the roller is a shop fabricated or repurposed unit ? I would think those fellas could easily have pulled something like that off.

The cabinet doesn't look like a normal 9968 or 9969 "Toolmobile" so I seriously doubt it's Plomb.

The Lockheed origin is easily believable, given the history of Lockheed activity in LA.

The hinges on the little top box appear to be spot welded. The roll cab looks like it has pop riveted hinges. I would bet the roll cab was at least partially "shop made".

Seems like something very like this got talked about a few months ago, maybe related to the guy in the service down in San Diego?

It's a cool looking box, but if it's been "Frankenstein'd" together throughout the years I wouldn't give them close to $199.

Well, I got a hold of the guy and he confirms the bottom roller IS home made, wood side panels and all. I did find 3 more Plomb adds, 1 the guy is out of town and will hold for me till next week. He's taken the add down so I cant post it, but its a sweet deal. Good size chest he bought from an old man that worked at Plomb, $35.00 :rocker:. Then there are these two....

^^^^The green box is almost the same as the $35.00 one for next week.

The top listing is a forum member, Jack Vines I believe.
