Just aquired this very cheaply (mostly to get some parts of it like the manometer etc (I have some other IR vintage compressors this would suite :) ).

However I'm firstly looking into the possibility to repair it if possible (the other compressors are much bigger - so thought this one would sit nicely in a corner :) ) - as you can see from the pictures the "crankshaft" seem to be broken straight off - I haven't opened it up yet, so don't know the state of the compressor at all.

Any thoughts ? (Is it at all possible to source a new/replacement crank for this one)? - or any other ways to repair it ?.

Cheers!

Replace the pump only after you confirm the integrity of the tank.

-Is/was it full of water?

I am thinking you could replace the whole pump with a 2 stage with a for less money than purchasing a crank and rebuilding that old pump. Not sure you buy the parts.

For my two cents if it counts on the GJ have the tank checked out and if everything is 100% (a full pass) then proceed with buying replacement parts if it does not pass scrap it and keep looking.

I am thinking the cost of repair along with testing the tank you might find it cheaper to buy a another good working unit ???
