Is this SO screwdriver considered "abused"?

first I didn't pay for it, just wondering what's the part# and what I can do about it other than wrap the handle with a piece of heat shrink tube.

the next one, I can't find any thing about it, part# SSDM80. I think it's missing an end cap or some kind.

If the first one is what I think it is (different end cap), they don't make it anymore. I think your heat shrink idea is a good one.

I recently bought one off of Justinmc. One bosses f-i-l had one and both (brothers) love it and want one. We use the one at the shop, and I am looking for another (so they each get one).

You could search Snap-on's part site and see if the cap is still available.

EDIT: Try moving the cap to the second one and see if the washer doesn't stick out.

My understanding was that handles were not covered under warranty at all.. I had a bag of those a few years ago that were just like that. Gave them to a guy I knew (I didn't work where we had a S/O guy come by at the time) to see about trade in or warranty. He said the guy said no.. then again I never saw the drivers again.. so I've always figured I got screwed on the deal. LOL

Heat shrink is a good idea, but a "plastidip" style coating is a better one.

If it can't be warranteed that is.....

That's be covered here before. The older black handles do that. Snap-On warranties it. I just turned in a headlight spring tool (HE528) and a 1/4 flex driver (TM62B) and had no issues but they still make those. The flex drive handle actually split into two pieces and the dealer didn't say anything just ordered me one.
If it's not avail. though I'm not sure what they will do credit or tell you to pound sand?

Depends on your dealer and how much you buy from him. Some will eat the cost to keep the customer happy others won't take the risk of not being approved by Corporate.

I don't have a SO dealer, never bought 1 piece Snap On new. I got a Matco dealer in the area who is a damn cool dude, the very first time I chased him down was to have some slides warrantied. he did for me no questions asked, so I tend to give all my business to him.

I'll keep the black one in my car, try my luck with the SO man when I get a chance to pass one on the road.

Heres an idea........just BUY a new handle from Snap-on and have him change it... I know they don't have that style anymore....it ain't gonna cost an arm and a leg.
