I think 1/8” metal top. 6’ x 3’. He is asking $150.

In my opinion, with an 1/8" top, no. I wouldn't buy it. If it was 3/4-1" top and you needed a welding/fab table, I'd say yeah or at least go look at it.

I agree completely. I wouldn't waste the time to go look at it. Not to sound like a jerk, but what would you do with it if you had it? It is too thin to be a good welding/fabrication table unless you made a really good table underneath and then used this one for the top.

If it is 1/8" in thickness....that is about 91 lbs. Kinda pricey for plate steel....new stuff would be about the same if not a little less.

Unless it's the exact size you need, pass. If you need a specific size, have it cut to that size. That way you are not paying for waste.

I asked the guy before going to look at it and was told 3/8” he thought. So I thought is was worth a look. Just wanting a decent basic workbench to be using. I offered him a $100 and he took it. I may just use this and build a heavy bench later but needed something to get usable in the meantime. I may be off on the thickness as it is pretty heavy, but eyeballing it I think 1/8”. I would have probably put a $100 in lumber for a wood bench. 6’ is what I wanted length wise width I might have only went 24”.

I think it will be plenty if you weld some 1/8" thick angle on the bottom of the top, every 12"..

That table is $100 tops assuming you really need it.
I have sold ones that size in better shape for $100-125

It's great. Clean it up and paint the sides and bottom and your good to go.

Put casters on it and have it be mobile if you need.

I bought a planer and joiner and bandsaw from a guy and he had a table that I didnt really need at the time but I got it for 100 bucks.

2 layer of 3/4 ply on top with slick white laminate surface. Cabinets and drawers and shelves. 9x3.

I put casters on it and love it. Yes you can make anything and have it perfectly customized but sometimes it's nice just to have the head start. Way over 100 bucks in material time and energy.

Mobile tables are awesome for fabbing up stuff.

All metal will be nice and it looks like you can put a shelf under or make some compartments for storage.

If you really needed the strength you could put another top on it and pound away at it.

Nice score

a table that size with a 3/4 - 1" top would be 200 min and probably closer to 300 at least asking price. I offered a guy $225 for a 30" x 60" with a 1" top that had been sitting outside for 10 years. He turned me down saying he thought it was worth well over his $300 asking price.

Top is a little rougher than I thought, thinking about adding another plate on top but might be cost prohibitive. May put a 3/4" piece of plywood on top to smooth it out. It probably won't get treated to rough. Any better ideas?

Plywood top, maybe. What do you plan on using the table for ?

Around here you can get 8ft stainless steel prep tables for abour $150. They also have about 1/8in top. Bracing dosnt matter if the top is very thin like that.

Basic mechanical work mainly. I will probably put a 3/4” plywood top on it for now. I see some table with UHMW on top of them also that seem ok but it is almost as high as steel, Menards has a HDPE sheet do about $50. Will keep my eyes open for a piece of plate. Thought if I added a piece of plate over top this it would be ok. Changed my mind about putting it up against a wall I think I will put it to where I can work all around it.
