Ridiculous or not, does anybody know for sure how SnapOn treats it (in case of warranty) and how the local sheriff treats it?
When I was a MAC dealer some boxes sold went to MAC Finance and MAC owned the boxes. Others had a big enough trade and made large enough payments where I owned the box until paid for.
When people gave me money I gave them receipts. And MAC sends statements getting copies is easy.
It may seem ridiculous but when some guy is selling a 6 month old box with a new value of $3500 for $1000 a good question is "Did this guy seem like he had $3500 cash just 6 months ago?" Often the answer is no. If no someone either a company or a local dealer owns the product.
Also when guys skip out on their tool bill they turn back up. When they sell a financed item it's a felony and they always tell you who they sold it to.
I picked up 3 from private parties that paid some deadbeat cash for my stuff. All 3 just gave the stuff up. I am sure they could have just told me to go F myself. However then the legal issues with MAC would have started.
At the end of the day it is just a big freaking mess for all involved.
Typically after this post someone says " I would have told you to go F@#% yourself and the horse you rode in on"
I guess I will never know what people have against my horse.
