the odd thing i do at home requires very little welding at the moment, not working on any car builds, and the last one i did i used this flux core welder to do all the welding. it produced marginal at best welds, and i see it listed far higher than what i remember purchasing it for at home depot 9 years ago (it's no longer made from what i can tell).
its the Lincoln Weldpak HD (75 amp max. 110v)
the settings are rough adjustable, 4 settings for heat through the switches high/low-1/2 and basically one wire feed speed (all the suggested speeds are at 9, the max, anything lower and its not very adjustable, it just slows way down once you hit a certain point, so it stays at 9 almost the whole time.
seen a few ebay auctions end with it being sold for 260. anyone ever use this welder and get it to produce a decent weld? feel like i'm about to sell it and get a gas setup instead, because the odd time that i do need a welder, i need something decent, it's either that or i'll probably pick up an arc machine and just stick everything since i can grab electrodes from work.
just looking for opinions on what people think of it, i bought it when i was completely inexperienced in welding, i do more than enough welding at work, but i don't need to spend 2-3000 for a welder at home. i never use flux core wire , and never have except for this machine for the one purpose i bought it for a while ago. so not sure what to do with it, i don't feel like flux core is worth using unless you absolutely need to weld with a mig outdoors.
