Came across this welder a Lincoln SP 135T

Lincoln 120v MIG welder with utility cart, bottle, shield, gloves. I used it for home shop use only. Purchased 7 years ago, used maybe 10 times. Great little welder! Just no need for it any more.

Seller is asking $500

I need something for light welding around the house. Have a friend with the big boy welders if i need something serious done.

Decent welder for really small stuff (120). But in the US you can get a NEW 120/220V Lincoln for $299 with cart, etc. Can you get that bottle refilled w/o a lease? Up here it's like the frikken mafia - you can't own a bottle!

I have that same welder, use it for all my small stuff around the house and shop. The price he is asking is probably fair, but not a great deal.

I'd feel better if he said OK to $400.

Yeah we can own bottles outright up to a certain size without a lease. Care to show me a link to that welder your talking about?

Well yeah that makes two of us. Id have to call my gas supplier and see how much a bottle costs to buy and add that onto the cost of the welder. I think they run about $120 for the first time buy of the tank and gas then its something like $45 to refill. Been a few years.

I don't know of any Lincoln "gas" welder even close to that price. You can get a cheap lincoln flux-core only welder.

Personally i think the Eastwood Mig135 is one of, if not the best gas machine for the money.

You would be better off putting an extra $100 or $200 with that money and buying a 220v unit. You can outgrow a 110v in a hurry.

$500 really seems like too much, unless it comes with a large shield gas tank and a very nice auto-darkening hood. I see 140a class Lincoln MIGs on Craigslist all the time for under $250-300, and even bought one myself a few years back for under $200. Of course, tanks can get expensive, so that certainly does factor into the price. I'd check the hydro test on the tank, though, as I believe they have to be tested every 5 or 10yrs. Also, you need to check and make sure its not a leased or rented tank, and you need to make sure the local welding supply store will even accept the tank to fill. I know the local Airgas will only accept Airgas labeled bottles, and will not exchange any others. This may be an issue if you only have one supplier in town, so take it into comsideration.

Hobart handler 190 230 volt welder can be had for $650 new $350 used. handler 140 110v is $450 new. if he has had the bottle 7 years its close to being expired test wise and will cost extra soon. i own 7 bottles and lease around 10. as my owned bottles run out i sell them and lease more it is more cost efficient and much easier to get refilled. in my opinion unless your area has no equipment being resold that price is very high.

I think its too expensive as well. I pretty much tig everything now, but I bought a little miller mig used for 150 that I have used for years.

The ~4-5ft tall bottles, largest ones they would let me buy, cost me 280 filled for my first time, then ~80 to refill. I burn through about 8 bottles tig to one bottle mig.

Wish i lived where some of you guys do deals like that never pop up or if they do there is something wrong with it or they are gone in no time.

My gas supplier doesnt really seam to care where the tank came from as he explained it to me all the money is in the steel weather it be in use or scrap. Last time I was there I traded in a large oxy tank that was last certified in the 70's. the first cert stamped into the neck was from the 30's. Traded that straight up for a full Q oxy tank i think it was no questions asked.

I really dont see me haveing the need to weld anything over 1/4 inch right now. Even if had to I could always tack it here then bring it to my friends place and have him burn it in good.

This welder looks like it has been discontinued and or replaced with the 140 version which looks to retail for around $550-$600 then the cost of the bottle which seams to average around $250. The other reason i kinda want to stick with 110 is if i need to bring it somewhere i dont have to worry about having a 220 outlet handy.

That's on the high side, unless it's a huge gas tank and a really quality auto darkening helmet.

The welder by itself is worth about $200-250.

Like the others, I think it's too much money. If it's a regular helmet and not an auto dakening, it'd be worthless to me. Same thing for the gloves, I don't want something thst somebody else's sweaty **** skinners have been wearing.
