I'm looking for something like a 4-8 or 10 mm wrench set with 6 pt box ends. No truck brands. Not ignition wrenches. Ideally forged steel with properly broached ends. I have a vintage Proto inch set and this is exactly what I want, but Proto doesn't make it in metric. Does anyone? I have a VIM set that's decent , doesn't appear forged but is ok, but some of the box ends are gigantic as they share wrench sizes with two fastener sizes.

Edit: it's a proto 1200E, probably 40 yrs old.

I know you said no truck brands but the only ones I can think of are the S-o "midget" wrenches. They make a set, OXIM707SBK, 4-9 mm. I own them and they are really nice.

Might look for older craftsman or sk outside of snap on but also older Bonney they made some odd sized wrenches aswell

Stahlwille series 16, but they only do 3.2, 3.5, 4, 4.5 and 5mm
Facom does a few hex sizes of their 440 series as well.

This is something I've only needed once and I used a Proto 5/16 for an 8mm. So it's not something I really need, but I'm a member here....

The Snap On set retails for over $200. I'd pay $50 for a nice used set but they sell for more than that from what I've seen. I was hoping someone else makes these as it appears SO is the only US manufacturer that does. Do any of the Japanese manufacturers?

If you can be patient and keep an eye out, I picked up the metric S-o midget set last year for around $40 here on the GJ classifieds...

Not much help but ironically I found Cripe selling 6-packs of Husky 4.5mm wrenches in 6-point for $6.50 shipped on eBay.

These things are great for adjusting the headlights on '04-08 F150s. All the special adjuster tools are too deep to fit between the adjuster and the front clip, and/or they fit but by the time you've cranked the beam to where you want it they won't come off because the distance closes up.

Anyway, maybe Cripe has more sizes in Husky 6pt. If you can't find it, contact them and ask. They tend to be quite responsive

And it appears SO doesn't offer a 4.5mm from what I could find...

.177" and I dunno the tolerances on something this small but at 10 thou bigger I dunno if 3/16" would risk rounding a metric fastener..

I'm not in a rush and thanks for the suggestions. I dont think I've ever needed anything smaller than 8mm. I have smaller sockets but obviously if there's no room they won't help.

As said, Facom makes 6pt mini wrenches in 5, 5.5, and 6 and this would be all I need as the other inch sizes are close enough. Zoro has 5, 5.5 for $11 ea but doesnt have 6mm. And I couldn't find it anywhere.

I'll keep an eye out for the SO and Armstrong sets.
