It came with a lift

Hi all,

I've been a member for a while, just haven't posted lately.
I recently purchased a new-to-me home with a detatched 3-car garage. It's 25' X 40' with a second floor above 2 of the bays. The first bay came with a 2-post lift already installed, and a pre-plumbed compressor.

As of now, the garage is not heated/cooled. The walls aren't finished and the floor is bare. My plans are to 2-tone the floors with Sherwin-Williams Armor-Seal, finish the walls with aliminum-finish wall panels, and add heat/cooling. It'll all have to wait since the house is 50+ years old and needs some work.

Here are a few pics of the garage. I should've took more pics with the cars out, oh well.

In the pics you'll see cabinets made by Ulit-Mate Garage Products. The fit and finish are decent and they went together easily. Only one box of the 15 had a missing part. I'll call on Tuesday to see how easy it will be to remedy. The only other issue was shipping. It cost $$, but the deal I got was just like paying full price with free shipping. 1500 lbs of cabinet came on a 48' trailer that we unloaded in the rain.

Man, you lucked out. First person I've seen that bought such a place WITH a lift already installed. Saves you a lot of time planning stuff - it's already done!

I'm assuming the PO was a car guy?

Yeah, the PO did a body-off resto of a 56 Chevy. I think he had a couple of race cars too (NASCAR).

That's right!!! I only need my own permission. When I bought the house, I broke up with the X. Gotta live it up while I can.

The cabinets aren't on wheels, there are 4" aluminum feet. The sections with drawers have a wheel on the lower drawer to assist the rails from excess wheight in the drawers.

thnx. The cabinets were ~ $2,700, including shipping from ww.woodcraft.com. There is still a large 2-door cabinet that is yet to be built since a part was missing from the box. The missing part is the cabinet top, they sent 2 bottoms.

Yes, built 5 years ago. The only problem, or issue, is that there are no footings under the lift posts. The entire pad is 8" plus all the way around, and there aren't any cracks in the floor, anywhere.
The PO lifted F250's on a regular basis, fleet vehicles for his contracting company, and there seems to be no issues with load.

No footings should be needed. My Rotary 2 post only requires 4" under each post. My slab is 8" too (cause I overkill most stuff).

That's great to hear!! Makes it easier to get under my truck when it's on the lift.

Sears carries these cabinets as well, I just bought 10' worth of the wall cabinets and 8' worth of the base cabinets from Sears for a little under $900 w/tax. They were 10% off on sale and I went during the Craftsman Club sale for another 20%. I haven't finished putting mine together yet, but so far they seem to be decent. The only thing I don't like about them is the black worktop, it's a real PITA to find a tiny black screw on a black work top, but I plan on putting a sacrificial MDF on top of them that I won't worry about hammering or drilling on which will also solve the lost screw problem.

Looks like Sears and Woodcraft offer these cabinets for the same price, but if you catch Sears at the right time, you could save 30% (but thats without tax or delivery if you don't have a way to get them home).

Nice garage and cabs. Interested in pics of how much room you have in the loft. Please post up some pics of the upstairs. Some of us are still in the planning stages to get what you got man! Very nice score.
