Whooop.....sorry, not savvy enough to post pics directly.....

this before the url:

no space in between

Or better yet... copy/paste ;)
If you look at the attached picture... every time you upload a picture on your photobucket account there is a box that looks like that under it, or near it.

The text in the box beside "img code" is exacly what you need to post the picture on the board. All you have to do is copy what is inside the textbox, and paste it here.

When you're typing you post and adding pictures, it's recommanded you do a "carriage return" between each pic so they don't all show on the same line. Like the following:

url]

url]

In the example above, I inserted a space after the
so the image doesn't actually show so you can see the code and have an idea of what it looks like when you'll type it.

Looks like that's going to be a killer place. On another note, I like the combination wood/chainlink fence ya got going on there...

Got concrete? You betcha! And wood for the slab forms.....going with a post tension slab, as the cables are on par with setting rebar here.

I'll bet that was the easiest digging/job that backhoe had in a while. :) Looking like a great start to the garage. Are you building it yourself? Keep the photos coming.

Yes, and no......the builder that built our house is handling all the logistics, crews, materials, etc, at his cost. I will be doing the framing, and interior fit/finish. His guys are doing the slab, electric, brick, and shingles. He's a super guy, did a great job on our house, and we have sent him some other customers since he's done ours, so, it's kind of a "buddy" deal.

Easy is an understatement....he was done in about 30-45 minutes. Took him longer to load/unload the hoe.......

Progress report.....started framing Saturday at around noon-thirty....#1 son had a soccer game that took the morning out....raised three panels, two of which are the two longest. Originally planned on two 3x3 windows, but lumber supply had a couple of 3x5, low e, argon filled ones that a customer never took that they virtually gave to me, so, went with them for the cost savings!!! Got them both for less than one of the 3x3's....nice!!! Father in law is coming back tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. sharp, and we have high-hopes of finishing the basic shell.....take a gander!!! (Yes, I know I still need to put on the top plates, figured why lift more weight than we had to....)

are you going to have another garage door for the back of the garage? is that what im seeing or am i wrong? you could do that & then pour some more concrete & have another area in the back for a shed or something. you could cover that area to park another car but that wouldnt make sense. i dont know, thats what i was thinking after looking at the pics.

whats going on with the back of the garage?

Yes, that is what you are seeing.....that "corner" is reserved for lawn/garden equipment. When the final grading is done, there will be another apron coming off the back for that 10' overhead.

The left jack stud for your man door will need to be replaced when you cut the bottom plate that is in the door way. Replace it with a pressure treated stud that goes all the way to the concrete slab. You can not leave it unsupported (i.e. in air)

Also your corner framing looks incorrect. The corners are suppose to have three stud, not two. The thrid stud gives support and a place to nail you interior wall (drywall/osb/etc) to

Here are two ways to do it.

Yes, I should have put the "finish the three stud corners" on the things left to do, and the door error is going to have to be cut out, moved, and a new header made.....some ROOKIE framer didn't do it right....DOH!!!! Oh, well.....tis how we learn. Have plenty of wood left, so, all it will cost is a little time.

Hmmm, that corner bead looks interesting. I had planned on putting in another stud like in the second link, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Hope to tonight, so long as there are no more friggin tornados in these parts.....was a nervous nellie last night!!

Thanks for the links!

This is such a great idea. I will have to remember this "trick of the trade". Much faster than my pump jacks if the roof edge is not too high.

Yup, pretty handy.....and very sturdy. I walked all around up on it, and not once felt unsafe. Best part, it's mostly left over form boards(walkways), and bracing(legs). It's now all down, stacked inside the shop, waiting for further re-purposing....

No pics right now, will get them later....shingles are on, soffits/fascia are painted, electrical is roughed in and connected to house(never heard such language, when they were feeding the main line into the house!!) Ok, yes I have heard such language. Went and picked up 6 eight foot T8's, the ones that use 4 four foot bulbs. Two rows of three, 5' clear on either end. Was advised "it will be bright as day"......OK. Epoxy on it's way. Performance Epoxy won out.....DID NOT order clear, however!!!!

Pics later!

Bit the bullet, and ordered a Sanyo Mini split......started comparing numbers, and they really weren't that far apart....peace of mind was worth it, to me.

LOL, detached doors are now painted to match existing attached ones, but didn't snap a pic of that....forgot. Looks complete from the outside, now. Waiting for final electrical, then I can do the floor. Mud/drywall is done, interior paint is done, and started trimming the windows. Would have finished the windows, but all I had to cut with is a jig saw. Ever try cutting molding with one? NOT the easiest thing to do.....Father-in-law is bringing over his chop saw tonight, and we will knock it out.

If you don't mind me asking....

I'm looking at building an identical size in similar bricks here in FL, very close you what you have done there. Care to throw out any $$$ figures? I'm preparing myself for the worst.
