Got these from father in law's estate....long screw going through a square tube....anyone know what they're used for??

Looks like a screw, but I can't zoom in.

I'm guessing they are used for screwing.

Looks like they are for the inside of gutters for re-inforcement, placed between top edge of gutter and facia.

The previous posters have it . The original gutter screws may have stripped out of the holes. Longer screws and a square tube replacement for the original ferrules solved the problem.

Yes, the 5” length of the ferrule is also a good clue.

Just trying to clarify if you needed to know what it's for or is it there for a reference.

Gutters would have been my guess, maybe on something large like a barn or commercial bldg.

I guess I figgered that it was known that the tape measure is for reference, after all, I am a retired engineer!
