Dimmer switch - good for x watts (call it 600).

Now, if I hook up this switch to an outlet and run my lights from said outlet, it would effectively dim the lights, correct?

I have been playing around with this idea for my Christmas lights so that I can make certain portions pop less than others....

In my opinion, LED Christmas Lights don't look "right".

I run all old-style lights - - 10,000+ with more in reserve.

I'm guessing with 10,000 lights you're somewhere north of the 600 watt capacity of the dimmer.

It would be multiple dimmers (or only used for certain portions).....

LED's are in fact dimmable.

To the OP, make sure your total system power does not exceed what the dimmer is rated for.
