Your company is likely buying licenses that are valid worldwide, they are available at additional cost. If you just buy a legit license in the US, they will most likely be valid only in the US.

There is no confidence to loose, the links are usually from Microsoft, the keys are either it works or it doesn’t and if it works it’s till when Microsoft decided to deactivate it. They are specific to the version of the office, even within office 2021, they have different versions as in corporate, retail, and some sort of distribution. So…. Just make sure you download the correct version to the key.
Don’t think it have anything to do with it, the software don’t care where you travel to. It does care about the version of the windows you installed and the office suite. Heck you can bring it to mats and it won’t care. I have had a seemingly valid key and office won’t activate because the windows was a retail version. Some weird scheme ms uses.

I downloaded the $29.99 Office 2021 for my new computer (refurbished, new to me) and it loaded quickly and works like it should. Be aware that they add on a $2.99 "handling fee" or something like that. But for $33 I'm good.

I was thinking about it the first time i saw those offers then realized that ive been getting along fine for home use between an older version of office we already have and the open office type ones so why bother.

I'm one who objects to the concept of "you'll own nothing and be happy" and refuse to buy something I can't transfer to any computer I want or have the license to, or pay a monthly service fee (Adobe!) or have a ticking timebomb license.
The combination of Libreoffice and when you need it - Office Online (free) is a good combo.
Libre writes xml versions of "compatible" Office files which are slightly different than Office files (which are also XML but differently structured). In most cases they are compatible but once in a while you have to do some gymnastics. No big really.

I was skeptical, but went ahead and tried thanks for the savingsIt's $10 more than last time, but still a great deal.
