Well, somehow I missed the entire build process on this.

84TurboBuick, my most sincere compliments on an outstanding job! I am a carpenter & I know how much work went into that.

One of your very lucky grandchildren will enjoy showing this to his or her friends some day!

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I was wondering if the original poster or someone else could supply me with the part # of the item circled in yellow below? I bought a bunch of used tools recently and have ratchet screwdrivers and all the parts in the box except for the part circled. I'm guessing that the red box is the bits for the kit? Thanks in advance.

I love this build so much. It reminds folks that the point of tools is not to collect them but what can be done with them.

Get out there with some tools and firewood and make something out of it.

84turbobuick, i would like to ask you what kind of drawer glides did you use for this build, and what is the weight rating for them? Look like accuride or blum glides. Anyway cheers to your build, looks great and you can say you did it yourself.

The slides are from Dynaglide.... 28" 100lbs ball bearing slides.

I got them here in town for $10 a pair.

So far they still work like a dream... they get smoother the more you use them!

I hate you sir for many obvious reasons, from your garage to your tools to everything in between.

That box is just gorgous. I thought you refurbed , but you made the thing?!? Nice! Boy, that must have saved you a few bucks from buying a snapon box!!!

The tools inside are just a feast for the eyes. Wow. You didn't collect those overnight.

Very, very nice and an inspiration. :)

That box is incredible!! I'm so glad you shared it. I picked up the casters for mine today and I'm using some 100lb slides I'm ordering through Lowes. the had 2 sets so I had something to actually look at. They were 17.96 per set for 24 inch but those things are super heavy duty. I'll be posting up some photos this weekend as I start my box. I hope my end result will look as nice. It looks as though you are using 12 casters on your box. What kind are they? I bought Cast Iron Casters with rubber over the cast Iron. I'm using 6 5" casters (4 swivel 2 fixed). My casters are rated for 600lbs each. I doubbt I come anywhere close to maxing them out and it won't be moved often except during the build.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but wow. Hats off to you sir for inspiring me to maybe, just maybe, give this a try down the road. This has got to be my favorite toolbox I've ever seen.

Well its 4/12 yrs later....wow does time fly.

I still come back now and again to see if anyone has commented on the box and has any questions.

I do have to say that everything still works like the day I finished it, nothing has cracked or bowed. The drawers work perfectly still!! :)

The one thing that still amazes me about the whole process is I am still waiting for something bad to happen to it.....I feel like "There is no way I the gods of chance have smiled on me this much....I actually did it"

Anyhow, everyone have a great day!!

This thread should come back every few months for the entire life of GJ...

I never get tired of looking at it, and I am still in amazment of how much skill
and dedication some people have... Yes, Mr, Buick... I'm looking at you... :D

Glad to hear all is well with it...

So what's the next woodworking project....?

New Space Shuttle...
Artificial Brain...

Or is it something that will really challenge you..?

Oh nothing so mundane as a space shuttle. ;)

Time to finish building the bar in the basement and putting in the trim.
