Where did you find the ball bearing slides? How much were they? What was their original application?

The slides I got here in town. They have 6 mounting holes in each part of the slide, so it holds rather well.

The tool collection is just as impressive as the box!

84Turbo, did you, by chance, keep track of how much the materials cost for the box? I'd be awfully curious to know if you did.

Can you post some side angle pics of a drawer open, so we can see the slides?

And, of course...absolutely outstanding job!

Figure around $300.00 for the slides, $150.00 for the handles (damn they are expensive!!).. and probably $600 - $800 for the wood. All told around $1200 - $1400 give or take a hundred bucks!!

The drawers are lined with automotive carpet backing that I got at Menards. It almost feels like the soft side of velcro, just a little thicker.

Consider too you probably just created a family heirloom... I would kill to have some of the tool boxes/garage stuff my great grandpa sold in a yard sale for 5 cents when he was "too old to enjoy it"...
