It has been said that after having a 100% broadcast floor put down that you will never find any screws that you may have dropped. ITS TRUE!!!! I dropped this little white switch plate screw and I could not find it for a day. That is until the next day I walked into the garage bare foot and it almost pierced my heel. :eyecrazy:

Hi,
What 1Largedog is reporting is 100 accurate. For this reason in 'working garages' we always try our best to advise of this potential problem.

We have actually had customers who bought coatings from us online with flecks, and found it so difficult to find things that they ended up recoating the floor. Rare, but it has happened.

A lighter color with a light broadcast it's not so bad. Very busy floors, it's difficult to find small dropped items.

how common is it now to do the floor and not do any flakes? is this solution overly slippery when wet? What about clear flakes for the traction - is that an option?

thx

In lieu of flakes we always include a non skid additive. On non flake projects we supply pigmented topcoat, not clear which gives a beautiful floor. The non skid does more for traction than flakes. We are not familiar with clear flakes.

As for common, most of our commercial/industrial work is without flakes, especially with forklift traffic for the reason that the flakes make millions of 'high spots' that the topcoat can prematurely wear off. Garages most of the time use flakes since 90% of them are just used for parking and storage.

For working garages we advise less or no flakes if small parts are going to be dropped on it a lot.

Yup bare feet are the best thing for finding small screws, splinters and Legos.

Years ago when carpet was in style , my wife would lose those little stick pins they used for shirt . She could find them in the carpet and would vacume , but that didn't always work . Yep I would find them with my bare feet in the mornings . I swear it happen every week.
