Well, It's happened again. I was on Amazon buying an Irwin tap socket/driver. This is a tool with a tap wrench on one side and a 3/8" drive recess on the other so that it can be used with 3/8" drive tools to tap hard to get too holes. I brought the item up on screen and the famous YOU LAST PURCHASED THIS TOOL IN 2015 showed up. I HATE THAT. OK, now I have to try to find where the hell I put the damn thing six years ago. Two hours later with every possible spot checked I push the button to apparently RE-BUY a tool that according to Jeff I had already bought six years ago. Sadly this isn't the first time this has happened. Has anybody else faced this deadly message besides me?

Somewhat similar: I often see "Purchased another variation". Damned if I don't have 6 "variations" of Mitutoyo and three fractional dial calipers now...

- You DO have some unique situations. Thinking of the oil change funnel issue. This one made me laugh. The funnel issue made me stare in disbelief that something would be designed that way.

- Never had that particular problem with Amazon reminding me. Wondering how one should handle that if (or when) it happens again. Two hours in your life you'll never get back!!!

Yea, of course you're right but what real choice do you have other than admitting you might be getting Alzheimer’s if you don't at least try to find the one you already bought. When I'm dead somebody will find it.

I just had to buy a replacement 3/8 to 1/4 hex adapter. I place red tape on this one so maybe I can find it easier.

I am also certain the the "lost" one will show up soon !

I'm in the same boat with some 1/4" router bits I ordered apparently in 2016 but no idea where they are. Hopefully we will find them when we shift the rest of the stuff from the garage to the shop. Fingers crossed.

3 is the magic number for me. If I have at least three I can be reasonably sure I can find one within 24 hours. However, heaven forbid if someone "helps" and puts all three of the item in the same location--then I need a fourth one!

I chuckled seeing this thread, because the same thing happened to me for the first time two days ago. The tire valve core tool I mainly use, is a larger sized one with a screwdriver type handle on it. I wanted to buy a second more compact valve core tool to always keep in my portable tool kit. I got ready to buy the MotionPro tool (link below) and Amazon told me I already bought one 3 years ago.

I checked the small tool drawer in my shop that has my pressure gauges, patch kits, tire crayon, and other tire related tools in it, and sure enough there it was, sitting amongst my spare black plastic valve caps in the back corner of the drawer. I had completely forgot I had it. I never noticed it, because it's black colored and so small it blended right in with the stuff around it. It has now been officially relocated to my small portable tool bag. I even put a small wrap of yellow electrical tape around it so it's easier to notice.

I’ve started painting or otherwise marking small, hard to see/easy to lose items with some kind of bright paint to make them stand out in the garage. Not sure how much it helps, but it damn sure doesn’t hurt.
