This August will mark the 20th anniversary of our home. Our garage serves double duty as my hobby metalworking shop as well as the occasional car and truck service. All of my machines are on carts with urethane casters, and I do move them frequently to facilitate my needs - metal cutting, grinding and fab, welding and plasma cutting.

The floor has held up well for the most part. Some stains, but completely intact and serviceable.

I've got about 850 sf of floor to cover. Prefer a coating as opposed to a tile. I'm in WI, and while the garage has a Reznor overhead heater, it's only on when I'm working during the winter months.

I'm very much a DIYer, have experience running grinders and buffers, and very much interested in doing the work myself if the savings are substantial enough.

I will need to do some degreasing and want to fill in all of the cracks so the machines can roll more easily. I figure after 20 years, the foundation is settled enough and the slab is not likely to crack any more.

Last - I won't be able to do the garage in one shot, but I can do it in thirds or possibly 2 halves.

Appreciate any feedback and direction you can offer.

Hi
Lots of great options available for you.

We recommend our Www.armorcladepoxy.com 3 layer 100% solids system. Over 10,000 satisfied GJ members have used over the years.

For something less expensive to protect the floor, our SPGX one part polyurea is the second most popular choice.

Thanks for the reply! I'll reach out to discuss with you. I'm particularly interested to learn how these coatings hold up to welding spatter and grinding dust, etc.

Important to keep in mind weld slag, etc is going to damage any coating system and the coating needs to be protected. I would be happy to look at options with you and get further into needs.
