Is it common knowledge here to mount LED's with the electronics higher than the diode?
Don't want those ohms leaking the wrong direction eh?
I have never heard that before, nor does it make even a little bit of sense. You do want to mount the driver as close to the diode as possible though.

And for what it's worth, just because it comes out of China does not mean it is junk, some really high end stuff comes out of china and no one says anything about it, just have to watch. I install lots of LED, and have used Canadian, American, Chinese, and Mexican versions of the same lights, and visually I can't really tell them apart, but the Chinese ones are the ones I have had the least problems with. And the American ones are the worst.
