Looking to get a new set of 3/8 impacts for my makita driver setup and wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with William's tools. I know they were still producing quality tools a few years ago and they are still currently producing some USA made tools.
I've found a set of USA 3/8 for a pretty cheap price, I like cheap, but I also dont like junk. Checking up because it's been a while and unfortunately it seems there are more and more quality issues forming with even the most reputable brands these days. All my other impacts are mac but dont want to pay the price for impact sockets that wont likely see too much use.

I'm assuming there okay, kind of hard to screw up an impact socket, but given the lack of physical distributors dont want to end up with too much warranty hassle either.

I'm also looking for a recommendation on a 3/8 adapter with a shank drive that is about 8 in long, and 12 in long. I've had a bad experience with the APEX adapters and dont see one on any of the more reputable catalogs.

Williams tools should be decent quality wise. As for warranty, you need to track down a dealer. I found out while running an errand that a local cutting tools supplier is one, but I haven't purchased anything from them yet. The prices on the quarterly flyers aren't that bad. If you care about warranty, then buy Snap on. As for impact driver adapters, they will eventually break. Treat them as a consumable, especially the 1/2" dr ones.

Thanks for the feedback there is an authorized online retailer called pro tool warehouse, but due to lack of reputation and reviews I'm considering spending the extra cash at motion industries since they have a couple physical locations nearby. Warranty is something I'm keeping in mind for convenience reasons but my main concern was quality as I could always replace what breaks pretty cheap or just drive down to Motion/ mail in the very few unlikely instances I may need to l. Thanks for the feedback I understand anything impact is to be treated as a consumable but the impact adapters by apex were not so surprisingly lacking in quality at the pin.

I buy a lot of tools from toolsdelivered.com. A lot of Williams tools. I actually have a order in for supercombo wrenches in right now. I have had nothing but perfect experiences of tools delivered.

I've had a bad experience with the APEX adapters and dont see one on any of the more reputable catalogs.

Were those APEX adapters branded Craftsman made by Apex Tool Group, or were they real APEX adapters? I ask this question because my experience with APEX adapters have been the extreme opposite.

Thanks nomoregreen toolsdeliver actually came in cheaper too! I'm not looking for next day or prime like shipping, but if their website says in stock do they typically get shipped within a couple weeks? I'm sure they drop ship like the other online distributors.

Wamsutta they were branded apex, Taiwan I believe. No ball detent but an actual pin. I've had two break at the pin but these were the long ones, I do have a short one still going (1/4). The long ones wont retain anymore but still function.

Ever had a warranty experience?

I've ordered quite a bit from them and everything so far shipped direct from Williams (Snap-on Industrial). I had one socket out of 4 sets that wasn't broached correctly. I called the number on the packing slip and they sent me a new one within a few days.

They aren't lifetime warranty in the sense of you can get a new one when you break yours doing something stupid but if there are any shipping or manufacturing issues they will absolutely take care of you.

Everything I’ve ordered has been at my door within 7 days (keep in mind I am counting weekends here). They must keep an inventory with snap on somehow. This current one will be the exception I believe. However I ordered Thursday night at 11pm cst and Friday was a holiday and so forth.

Oddly, they waited 4 days to ship one of my orders, then overnighted it to me.... not quite sure on that one either...

You get a shipping notification and a tracking number with your order though.

I have not been able to order out of stock items, I don’t think the website will let you.

That's interesting. This is the first time I've ever heard of an APEX tool being made in Taiwan.

Yes wamsutta APEX tools are outsourcing some of there tools now to Taiwan. Main reason for making this post is so many quality manufacturers for various different products are become less and less quality. Now dont take it wrong, not all APEX is junk, and not all tools coming out of Taiwan are junk either. Just my opinion

EX-370-8 is the part number to the adapter if you wanna check it out. COO is Taiwan but also states "subject to change" which is not something I see often.

I'm gonna place my order with them tommarow night nomoregreen, there one of the few authorized distributors with fair acceptance and reviews.

I've been a big fan of APEX for many many years, but I'm done with them if they start making stuff in Taiwan. Thanks for the part number; that was going to be my next question.

Williams are still excellent quality. Just received an order from Toolsdelivered for larger sized deep impact sockets (USA) and crowfoots (Taiwan). Ordered on Sat, shipped the next Wed.

A lot of Williams tools are Taiwan made now. However toolsdelivered does an excellent job of differentiating the two.

They shipped the tools today!
