J H Williams 1/4" #501 .One side also marked 14 741 355. Other side marked 30-cal-posi set screw.
Any one have more info?

That looks like a mis-struck "POST", not "POSI," to me. That might indicate it was for a set screw on some kind of post on some kind of mount for a .30-cal, not the .30-cal itself. Or a post type sight. Either way, I doubt Williams applied those markings. I don't recognize the number or even the format, but it smacks of being an Ordnance number of some kind, not a Williams number.
