I'm looking for a couple sets of metric combo wrenches and sockets, as well as a set of impact sockets. but I'm on bit of a budget. I'm an industrial HVAC mechanic, so the tools will spend their lives in a road box and on jobsites.........not worth spending the money for a big name truck brand, but I have no use for cheap junk either.

J H Williams looks to be priced right and as it's owned by Snap-On, I'm thinking it might be a good tool for the money.

Any thought's as to pros / cons would be appreciated.

They are good, rugged tools in my experience. Make sure they are US Made.

Sounds like you travel to job sites a lot? I would pick whatever has the best warranty support in your area. It would be a PITA to have to mail something off for warranty vice stopping by an industrial supplier.

As long as you go with the USA made stuff; I don't think you can go wrong, the USA ratchets are just like the previous generation Snapon 936 series. I have williams impact sockets, accessories; they look like Snapon with less decorative machining and look more crude in appearance, the visual cues that they are made in the same place, design as snapon is there. Pricing can be amazingly affordable; especially, if you find them on sale on ebay from overstocks or tool clearance sellers. The only downside of any industrial supplier is the lack of onsite service but if you can find a supplier that is responsive to your needs, I think you will be fine! :)

Williams has two lines of USA-made ratchets. They have the 36 tooth pear heads and the 72 tooth round heads.

Also, a lot of the import Williams tools are identical to Blue Point tools. I've had one of their fine tooth ratchets and socket sets. They were both made in Taiwan and very nice for the price.

NY outer borrough.
I would go with either SK or Proto actually, nothing against williams, but I haven't seen any on the jobsites. Armstrong is also really good, theyre used on the TBM's and other equipment.

Thanks for the input, I'm gonna some sockets and a wrench set, and see where we go from there. They seem to be the best price going for what I'm gonna use them for, if they are as nice as they look, I'll probably get more.
