Someone posted pics of some Williams wrenches they had found, and they were nice! I could easily grab a set of those and use them - no problem.

If the williams are the same as bluepoint, they offer a benefit over other taiwan ratchet wrenches AND over US ratchet wrenches, in the fact they can be disassembled.

How do the Supercombo wrenches compare to Snap On? Would they last in a professional shop setting? The prices on these wrenches are very attractive.

I would say as good. These are the best wrenches I have put my hands on they are long and the feel and fit is unreal. They lock on very very well.

Thanks BajaBound. Do you use these professionally or know anyone that does?

Does anyone else have experience with these wrenches?

Well, they are an industrial brand. Williams tools are marketed to factories and other industrial buyers. We only know about them because we're tool nerds.

I've had a set of the Bahco wrenches, which are identical to Supercombos. Identical, except the Williams have ridges on the open end to help grip the bolt. They are more bulky than Snap-On wrenches or other truck brands. I assume industrial settings often don't have the tight quarters of automotive work.

But, the fit and finish seem top notch to me.

Also, check ebay. There is at least one authorized distributor that sells there. But, I don't know how their prices compare to other places.

It looks like their polished USA wrenches have the "flank drive plus" style open end. I kind of wish they didn't as I don't want to mar fasteners.

This YouTube video we posted should clear most of the Williams confusion up. ToolsDelivered.com on YouTube

Wiliiams wrenches are strong performers but, are not the same as Snap on. To begin with, the full polished Supercombo wrenches have a beam that is more rounded and twice as thick as a similiar sized Snap on combination wrench. This can be handy for people with bad hands or that don't like the knife edge feel of some wrenches. However, with the thicker beam, comes increased weight and a different sense of balance and feel. The teeth on the Supercombo aren't as aggressive as Snap on's flank drive plus. Williams is more like the notched end on Matco's optitorque or Mac's knuckle saver. The area behind the base of the open end on a Supercombo wrench is machined down to be thinner than the rest of the wrench possibly for improved access or who knows?, ask williams.
Williams tools need to be judged on their own merits. Don't think you're buying a Snap on tool with a Williams name on it. Although many Blue Point Tools are a perfect match for Williams. Let's address price for a moment. You can get a Snap on flank drive Plus metric combination wrench set in sizes 10-19mm for $320 and change off of the truck, or You can get a Williams fully polished Supercombo set in the same sizes for $98.61 depending on where you shop. They are NOT the same wrench though. Don't be like those idiots on Ebay that think that just because a brand is a part of the Snap on tool dynasty,(williams, Bahco, CDI, Blue Point) it's a Snap on tool. It's a Snap on tool if it has Snap on on it.:wtf: The pictures compare a 15mm snap on fd+ with a Supercombo 15mm.

Williams are better in your hand with an impact wrench hammering on the other side because the beam is thicker and they won't try to cut your hand in half.

Snap-On wrenches are patterned after the original old time tappet wrenches which were always very thin in design and long.

Correct. Snap-On, Snap-On Industrial, ATI, SUN, NEXIQ, SIOUX, Mitchell, JH Williams are all Snap-On Inc.

Snap-On and Williams are not the same wrench. Both are built for the market they are sold to. Williams by design is heavier, thicker, and stronger. Snap-On is made to grab softer metal (aluminum), Williams is design for heavy industrial use and never gold plated.

Many wrench designs are really just protection of design rip offs because the shape and pattern are copyrighted, and that never expires unlike patents.

Much of the tool truck pricing is not the cost of the tool, it is the personalized service and no interest truck account financing.

Well, my Supercombos came today- All I can say is "wow!"

They definitely are NOT the same as snap-on. They are MUCH thicker in the handle area (not that it is a bad thing. I'm an auto tech and don't foresee there being any clearance problems)

The above poster who described them as "stout" couldn't have said it better. Just screwing around with them at my desk they feel much stiffer laterally than my snap-ons. Overall I am very impressed

Is it weird that I'm excited to go to work tomorrow? :3gears:

PS- I ordered them through ToolsDelivered.com- very good service, fast shipping, and the lowest prices I could find on williams tools
