Those are both made in Taiwan. However, Williams still does offer some USA made tools.

I was hoping that wasn't the case... I guess I'll stay away from them. I should have known for that price.

I've got some of their Taiwanese stuff - nothing to get excited over, but still good quality. Unlike some imports, I think Snapon holds them to a pretty high standard.

The bargain basement prices are easy indicators.

Excluding craftsman, you rarely ever find USA tools anything close to this price range from a retail standpoint. Very few under $100.

Then again, sockets like those are specialty tools for me.

That's because it IS blue-point. All Taiwan made JH Williams tools are relabeled blue point tools. They are good tools for a very good price. They are better then craftsman in every way. (Fit, finish, strength, durability, price, selection, etc)

The US made Williams socket sets have a letter-number part number, and a higher price.

If they have a 5 digit part number they are made in Taiwan.

We have the "country of origin" right above our prices when the information is available. Williams imported tools have to meet or exceed 85% of the strength and wear benchmarks set by the USA made items.

Actually, Snap-On manufactures the "Value Line" hand tools or has the "Value-Line" tools contract manufactured in Asia or elsewhere in some cases. Some are marked Williams (Industrial line) and some are marked Blue-Point (Automotive line). Blue-Point is sold through franchised route based sales automotive channels, and Williams is sold through non-franchised independent industrial supply houses. No relabeling really.

Where it is made does not determine if it is a value line, the price and the quality do.
