I never said it was worth 1k as is.
Although, as a foundation, what he got was way worth more than $40, IF, IF, one is willing to refurb it.
OP will be putting time, blood, sweat, tears, and money into this.
At that point, he will have a more beautiful, stable, solid, accurate saw than 90% of guys on GJ.
Any decent not beat unisaws that have had the refurb love he will give this go for like a grand, w the Biesemeyer.
What he will end up with will be way better than a typical condition used Unisaw with an original fence.
And try to beat it w anything new.
Try to find what he will end up with for much under $1000.

Yes, he will have invested labor and like $500 for fence and mitre gauge, maybe some bearings, but he will have a superior tool.
