Jack name

What is the name of this type of jack? Are they useful?

My wag -It is a variation of a scissors jack similar to the one below -

Later today don't be surprised if someone posts the make of vehicle that jack was original equipment for.

It seems to be STABLE and that is what drew me to it.

Looks like a relative of a bumper jack. Not sure I'd want one for general use, suspect they were only designed to be used a handful of times over the life span of the car.
