Hey Folks,
I've been trying to find a way to store jack stands.
I've looked around on the forum but I haven't really noticed anything creative.
Seems like most of us have them stacked under a bench or something.

Also floor jacks, what's a good way to store those?

Any ideas?

I find sticking jack stands in the attic is the best way to store them, and I roll my floor jack under or behind something if I can... (my floor jack is behind my compressor)

You could hang them over a door with some hooks, but just make a lip a the bottom so that when they are hanging, they are pointed upwards at a slight angle, so that you don't drop the stand out of the frame

Have you created this thread to ask us to come up with something more creative than what we have already posted?
What a polite reply.

I didn't see one thing that I though was real innovative in those links.
I built a little caddy that sits on the jack and I roll all of it to someplace where I won't trip over it.

I bought a benchtop drill press instead of a floor model. Then I bolted it to a metal surplus cabinet. The shelves under the cabinet top are the perfect place to toss my jackstands until I need them.

I merely stack them (one pair) and put them under the workbench. It keeps them out of the way but within easy reach. The floor jack, it get rolled behind the wood burner and beside the press, a space that can't be used for much else.

Sadly, the best place to store mine are under the Dart...

When not in use, which is actually pretty rare, they are stored under the bench sort of stacked/puzzled together to minimize space.

The floor jack ends up wherever it can to make sure the handle can in no way drop to hit a car.

I have my motorcycle jack and auto jack are on the floor nosed under steel wire shelving (the bottom shelf is 12" off the ground) I store seldom used stuff on that rack.

I dont have any plan in use for storing my jacks stands, they currently just get in the way lol. I considered raising the bottom of the wire shelf next to the jacks and kicking them under there, haven't bothered to unload the shelves to do so. in the new shop, if it ever gets done, I plan to have all my shelves start at least 20" off the ground, to allow for all that weird floor stuff you dont want to have to deal with.

My old Jeep has spent most of its time with me up off the floor !

Now that I finally have it running, I was hoping to find a way to store the jack stands and floor jack. I'm tired of kicking them.
I have a corner by the garage door that looks promising for storage.
Maybe I can come up with a way to use that space.
Lots of good ideas here....thanks to you guys for the replies.

i keep mine under the platform my air compressor sits on.
the platorm is approx 5' off the floor so i have some usuable storage for bigger stuff underneath.

i usually leave the floor jack "parked" under my trail truck since it has a slow leak in a tire. keeps me from having to pull it off and reseat the bead when it goes completely flat.

you can sorta see the jackstands on the floor back in the corner.

Hey, thanks.
For some reason the search didn't work for me.

When you click on the search button at the top of the page, instead of entering a search in that first popup, click on the advanced search button and use that - advanced search always seems to work a lot better, plus you can narrow the search to a single discussion area.

Crazy68dart next time you are in the big box store pick up a 4 ft piece of pipe insulation and slip it over the handle. I sleep better once I did this with my jack as it always seems to end up in a different spot since I don't have a dedicated spot for it.

This may be in the other threads, but my garage has exposed studs. I built little shelves between studs. 4 shelves store 8 stands and a bottle jack.

This is how I store mine. Along with some of the other stuff you need at hand every now and again. It also serves as storage when I am taking things apart and keeps the tools I am using close at hand.
