Jack Stand Vs Drive On Mini Ramp?

The problem that I've run into lately is that I jack up the car by the lifting points (usually pinch welds), and then i am left with no place to place a jack stands. Or if there is a place to put it, its not ideal.

The Unijack seems like a cool idea though.

I like the idea of having two integrated, but I vaguely recall seeing reports of them prone to leakage and the speculation was that the design causes excessive side-loading.

If your unibody vehicle is tight on space, how about placing the jack (or stands if using two to lift whole front end) under the engine subframe?

oldschoolcraft, I have a 2018 Accord, and I use my old Rhino Ramps for oil changes. I also own 3(I think) pairs of jack stands. The Accord has a jacking point by each wheel plus one in the center of front and rear. I can align the ramps and drive up in a couple minutes and oil changes are easy.

I could also jack up the front end with the center jack point then put jack stands on the points by each front wheel, but that would take longer. Plus the front center jacking point is hard to see unless I drive the car up on a 2x8 or something a bit higher. It would also take me longer than using ramps.

If you're going to do maintenance, I would have ramps and jack stands. Doing the front brakes was easy, but obviously required something other than ramps.

I personally prefer jack stands, but I like to be able to check the steering components at every oil change. I recently started using my jack stand a bit less, because I got a small "portable" hoist because I miss the hoist I use at work. [emoji23]

Don’t jack a Civic to do oil changes. Turn the wheel hard right before you shut the car off and reach the filter and plug through the wheel well. Invest in a drain pan that’s low enough to slide under the car when it’s on the ground. Get a high tooth count flex head 1/2 ratchet to get the plug. Might need a short extension for clearance. The flex head is really helpful.
