What kind of jack stands are you guys with epoxy floors using? I'm looking for some that won't dig into the floor. I did a search and found an old thread about some Goodyear stands sold at Sam's club, but Sam's doesn't list them on their website anymore.

These on eBay looks like they have flat pads on the bottom of the legs. Although it's still hard to tell the quality from the picture.

Im with TNT... I do that on my driveway so the legs dont sink. You might also consider welding little 2x2 or 3x3 pieces of steel to the bottoms of each leg. Should distribute load nicely.

... but the steel would still gouge the floor if you bumped the jackstand when the car's not weighing it down. Steel items directly on epoxy = bad.

Ouch that would almost hurt more than the chip in the floor. Do you have these BM if so are they worth it.

No, I don't have them. However, I was very close to getting some, but then I got a lift. I haven't used my old jackstands in some time. But when I used to use them, I cut some pieces of plywood to go underneath.

Ahh, maybe someday...

I especially like the rubber pad. The normal jackstands just tear up your undercoating.

You can also find this EXACT stand at harbor freight for 1/4 of the cost.

I have the HF version of those, but in red (of course, to match the rest of the Garagenous Zone).

But I rarely use them.

The reason is partly why I even have a lift: back Ye Olden Dayes when I was working on cars in a small, cramped one-car garage, a Mk2 Scirocco fell on me when a cheap sheet metal jack stand collapsed under load. My wife told me I could never get under a car again with jackstands. A lift satisfied her (and my) concerns.

So I use the red stands mostly for decoration. The lift has obviated the use of jackstands almost all the time.

True enough, I didn’t mention a price point. $50-60 a set would be in the ballpark.

I don’t currently have any jack stands. Since I need to buy some anyway, I thought I’d see what you guys were using.

Unfortunately, the garage ceiling is only a little over 9’ and isn’t high enough for a lift. The post would keep me from moving one of the cars laterally, so I’d need to be able to store one of them on, or under, the lift.

Thanks for the suggestions…

I have 4 of the flat top AC Jackstands pictured in posts above. I purchased them from Steve at Ulimate Garage a few years ago.

They are by far the best jackstands I've ever used.

See, BoostAddiction's story there is mostly why I want a lift to start with. Call me a fraidycat or whatever, but I don't want to go out getting squashed by some old car. Since my roof is low and budget is too, the Kwiklift (or somethign like it) will probably be how I get around the issue as well.

Guess I'm more claustrophobic than I thought.

I got them in 2002 as part of a group buy. They were less then. I think we just about bought out all the ones that came into the USA. They were just being introduced then. We got them from Steve at Ultimate Garage.
