They are really pretty light duty. I would [gasp] recommend the orange 6 ton stands from Harbor Freight (6 ton minimum!). I have never felt insecure with them and they are probably made in the same factory as the Craftsmans....

Good point! I'm sure it's the same migrant worker putting different stickers and paint on other name branded products. I'll have to look into the HF stands, I actually wanted something a little more heavy duty then these anyway.

Ditto on the 6 ton HF models. They're regularly on sale for $19.99 and they definitely hold up. I've owned two full sets since the early 90's and they have provided excellent service.

Although, I just looked at them, and they were made in Taiwan. They look identical to the current models though.

I have them and I also have the clone from HF and both work equally well
I also have the larger stands from HF and prefer them when I am really getting the car up in the air
