jacks not allowed

I went to Kenny-u-pull to get body mounts for a 2002 Tahoe. They don't allow me to use a jack. Any Ideas how to leaver the body up 3" to pull the mounts?

Every u-pull yard I've been to requires you to get one of their yard workers to lift the vehicle with their front end loader or forklift. That's an insurance issue.

Yeah, squished customers are bad for business... with some of the super-sketchy stuff I've seen, it's kinda surprising there aren't more bodies out there.

Ask at the office, and they should be able to send a guy with the loader or forklift to help you out.

It’s been a few years but most of the yardI frequented had gantries.
It is also not uncommon to find a screw jack behind the seat of a pickup.

with all the sketchy things I’ve scene over the years, I’m surprised you-pull-it places exist at all anymore. I would have thought the price of insurance would have put them out of business years ago. It a lot of risk to make $10.

The irony of the "no jacks" policy is that I've seen more than my share of people using a really rickety bumper jack that they found in a trunk in the yard to lift way more than they should.

I have to ask: Why, out of all the parts on a vehicle, are you trying to save body mounts from a vehicle in a junkyard?

With new poly bushings and mounts available cheap, and old ones in a junkyard being already partially (at least) broken down, and the trouble to reclaim them, wouldn't it save time (and maybe even money) to buy new?

Hell, some people use hockey pucks.

Of all the things to buy from a junk yard, i don't think if would really be worth the effort to buy used body mounts, new ones should not be too expensive.

I just looked them up, they are way more than I expected. Rock Auto out of stock too.

big ole wrecking bar. dismount the body from the frame & leverage the body to the side. One side should fall out in the process while the other side may need a wedge put in place during the leveraging.

6' Pry bar, one at a time. Find a jack in a car, one at a time. Engine hoists are at most yards, front then back.
