I was looking for a nice materials rack/stand to aid with cutting steel and found this.

This thing is seriously overbuilt, 2500lbs capacity, up to 36" diameter pipe, 140lbs weight, 5 casters, etc...

**** this could very well be for just the head, but shipping weight shows 140lbs, and nothing to indicate otherwise.

This is just to beefie for my needs but a awesome stand none the less.

Product description seems to show the entire thing. That would be nice if I needed to do 36" pipes. I usually only go up to 4" so it starts on the big end. I feel that it may be worth it just for the base, not sure I could build one for that price. I am adding it to the wish list just to see where it goes.

Makes me think its the "V head" only? But with Amazons return policy, worth a shot.

Really, if you did get the stand, its worth $100 in materials alone.

Use them. I have a roll outy machine that will turn up to 36" .I have plans to convert 6 of them to skid mounted for sand and mud use.

We used some of these to weld large diameter pipe together and used them to put a groove on the end of the pipe for Victaulic couplings.

Hmm, those look flimsy compared to the Ridgid. Stamped legs vs true sq tube. Post up how they are when you get them.

They are medium duty, but for $37 each im cool. Plus I will only be using these as supports while cutting metal sticks under 200lbs.

I got two, one shipped without the head....annoying but they are sending a replacement.

The quality is actually pretty good, strong enough for anything I will be doing but not so heavy I cant easily move them around the shop. Made in the USA as well.

I have plans to build a nice "flip-top" head for them.

Has used sumner jacks built like that to hold thousands of pounds of pipe, plate and general steel shapes. No worries as far as strength. Lock the set screw and you good

Uh huh, but the Sumners are not stamped legs are they?

The best VALUE I've found in the past for true uber-duty stands has been Ridgid which at least used to hover around $79. The only odd thing was the Ridgids use 1.25 Acme while all the "welder's" stands are 1.5".

This is a new design with the adjustment nut "V-ing" down. Kinda cool.

V head 3 leg pipe stand. Weighs about 30 pounds. Nothing at all like the 140 pound roller head stand with five caster legs. It is a nice $40 stand. Problem is, I paid $105 for it.
I used the "Contact Seller" feature in Amazon to email the seller. Haven't heard back yet. Any suggestions on how to proceed? No freaking way I am keeping this for $105!

I will give them 2 days to work out a satisfactory resolution. If we can't agree I will get Amazon involved. I don't understand why the advertise one thing and send something else. Nobody is paying $105 for what they sent me. I ordered a different pipe stand that is mentioned in this thread for $37. It is just as good as what they sent me for $105

They emailed me a return label so I sent it back. Why don't they proof their own ads so this kind of **** doesn't happen?
I am getting leery of any deal that appears good. It often turns out to be a mistake that doesn't get honored. Then I have the hassle of returning the ****

I hate to say tho, most the posted deals on Amazon are betting on a mistake by the seller or a super lucky find. You are rolling the dice when going for these deals, and the frustration and wasted time are the side effect if it doesnt pan out.
