Jacuzzi >> Parts Washer?

Just had a random thought as I scroll through the local classifieds past a free hot tub nearby.

In essence it's a big fiberglass tub, with a pump, heater, and plumbed with nozzles throughout. Is this the recipe for a kickass parts washer or electrolysis tank?

I wonder how the fiberglass, jets etc. would hold up to solvents, but then again that wouldn't be a problem with electrolysis.

Anyway, what say you?

Tub may be the only good part. I believe it would get stained quickly.

I think all of the wetted parts outside of the tub would be consumed by the pH basic aqueous solvent or the petroleum solvent.

If you drop a part down in the center...might want some waders or various pikes & magnets to fish it back out!

Seems like it would take a lot of solvent $$$ and if aqueous have to be heated constantly to make it work correctly.

I was thinking maybe put a grate across the seats, making the lower half the "resevoir" for the crud to settle.

Also maybe a better execution of this would be a "jet tub" more similar in shape and size to a regular bath tub.

There are part cleaners I most commonly see them in the electronics industry that are referred to as jacuzzi style cleaners, because they work just like a jacuzzi: heat the solvent, and use powerful immersed jets to work fluid. Popular in the electronics industry where ultrasonic cleaners can mess with certain components.
So yes, it would work, but what are you planning on cleaning in there? Engine blocks?
