I had my dream garage built this past winter. My wonderful wife handle the construction details with the contractor (friend of the family) while I was working overseas. She was a real trooper handling this for me! Right now it's just an enclosed shell (no Elec. or Water) waiting for me to come home and build it out like I want. It's a horse barn style shop, 30X38' first floor with a 10X38' loft (the soon to be ManCave!) Here's some pics of the build.

Nice garage. I'm sure you're excited about getting home and starting that "man cave." I look forward to seeing what you end up doing with the space. You've got a great lady offering support and overseeing the build on your behalf.

As others have said, be safe over there. Words cannot express the gratitude and respect that I have for those that have/currently serve.

"Nice barn, where will the stairs be?"

Thank you! The stairs are along the back wall left hand rear corner looking through the roll up doors.

"Looks great! When are you coming back to finish it?
Thank you for your service"

Be home for a very short time in Oct. Then fly back out on a new contract over here. I'll probably get the chance to finish the barn in a couple of years. I'll be doing things a little at a time like wiring, insulation, plumbing, sheetrock, ETC during that time.

I'm not serving, I'm supporting our war fighters here in Afghanistan.

Wow...Very nice. Your a lucky man with a good wife it sounds like. Be safe over there.

Thank you! Yes I'm a lucky man to have survived after she handled all that head ache! Like I said she did really good, but think it broke her on the idea of building her own house and she being the G.C.

Thanks! I would love to be home building and playing in my shop! Now I just have to pay for it! Was a little more expensive to build than I had planned for and I went BIG, all I got up was the shell. The rest will have to be done over time.

Thank you all again for the support!

Thanks all for the good words!

"Damn, that's a lot of lumber!"

I had my GC build the garage to house code standards just in case I wanted to convert the upstairs into an apartment. My parents and inlaws are getting old and you never know! Would most likely turn the bay behind the small roll up door into an apartment if that happened so they wouldn't have to climb stairs. I'd just have to find a new home for my motorcycle and bike shop.

Have a great day!

So the small side is the bike shop, figured it was for the lawn/garden stuff.

I'll second the a lot of lumber comment.

That's the plan, been looking at M/C lifts last few days but that will have to waite until later. I need to insulate, wire, plumb and sheet rock first. Been getting some good Ebay deals on electrical / plumbing supplies since I don't need them right away.
