F70SC? I like the art, just don't understand the meaning.

Great working shop. What is the ceiling made of?

F= General Motors "F" Body Camaro
70= 1970
SC= Supercharged

The ceiling is Reflectix it's bubble wrap with mylar
on both sides.

I just staple it up there.

Love the car and the stuff you do yourself (air lines, relay wiring)!!

Thanks!! Like I say, "I'm cheap and poor." Which is a great motivator to do
things your self. I hate to pay someone else to do something...

I went to your LINK page :bowdown: you are the man!!

There is something about your garage that REALLY appeals to me. In truth, I ordinarily prefer more "stuff" to be hidden from view. But yours is so well organized in a truly, "I-use-this-stuff-everyday" kind of way that its got a real world appeal.

LOVE the Camaro. Those 2nd Gens with the split bumpers kinda remind me of cleavage! lol.

Quick question on the Reflectix. Is it attached to just the ceiling joists or is there a ceiling under it? I assume those are staples holding it up. If its just joists under there does it ever sag?

It is just stapled to the joists. I pulled it tight when I put it up, but it does sag slightly. I mainly wanted something cheap to keep the heat out in summer and heat in in winter.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the info.
I have a fairly low flat roof in my shop that is 1x's over 2x6's spaced at 24" O.C (yeah, I know:(). The old owner painted it with some kind of crappy paint that is flaking like crazy. I wanted to scrape/sand/paint the whole thing BUT I thought, "That's gonna be a LOT of nasty, dirty work...and may start flaking again because of the heat...".

So just the other day I shopped those 4x8 aluminum faced foam sheets at Home Depot thinking I'd rip them to fit between the joists but they run about $7 for 1/2" up to $30 a sheet for the 2" thick stuff that is metal faced on both sides.

Your Reflectix idea would cover the crappy paint issue and not cost me nearly as much! Then I could just scrape/sand/paint the joists/rafters. Yeah, just covering everything up there would be a lot less work - and i might - but I'm concerned the ceiling would look way too low. So thanks VERY much for the smart idea! If that stuff is 4 ft wide in fairly long rolls I'm definitely in. Now I've gotta go price that stuff.

There's something "not quite right" with that statement...

"[Jane's] a man baby!". ;)

Hey 70Camaro, I think we might know each other. Are you Roy P.'s brother? Garland P's son? If so, I'm Zach and we've met before, roughly 4-5-6 years ago at Roy's son's b-day party when I drove up in my 68 Biscayne.

If Roy and Garland aren't your kin, well... this is awkward... :eek:

Anyhoo, nice garage, cool compressor score and nice compressor line plumbing. That's one of the last big projects (compressor lines) I need to do on my garage.

I see you're doing a little Freiburger F-Bomb action there on your Camaro. Nice! You taken Jane out to VMP for some runs yet?

Thanks for all of the compliments! Never been to VMP, I need to check it out. I'll PM you about the other stuff!!

Great space - Love the blower motor! Cool idea on the booth wall. I used a plastic sheet hung on stretched AC wire and a furnace filter in the window, pulling through to my wall fan. Worked pretty good - but not as good as what you're about to make. Have you sprayed base/clear before? It's pretty forgiving - in that a LOT of sins can be color-sanded out. Keep up the good work - and posts!

Thanks for the compliments!! Never painted before, I'm in the "buy up
supplies" stage. It's going slow, money's tight--lol

Looks good! Question for ya... Any specific reasoning behind the - from what I can see - Christmas '91 Coca-Cola bottle(s) and carrier? Didn't know if the year was special or something.

pulled the side cover to replace the gasket and
to clean out the crankcase, went to torque down
the bolts and I stripped out the lower right
bolt hole. Had to tap to 3/8" and drill the cover. :mad:

I have always liked your shop since the first few posts you made. That compressor was a great find, and the overhaul is looking good. I am 110% in favor of redoing older items like that one. Your looking good in the shop!!

Best Regards
Herb Spencer
