Janus garage door

I am framing the garage currently. The other day a fellow stopped by the job and offered me a Janus M-2000 insulated door, all hardware etc, New for $800. It is a 10W x 12H. He purchased it and realized his RV would not make it through the door and had to get another door. He has had it sitting in the garage since.

My question, first is it a good door in your experience and would I be able to install the roller portion of the door above the rafters and roll down only the 10 ft I need? The building is framed to handle that as far as truss orientation.

Yes. This door is good. I have two of them on my tractor shed. Don't know about ur installation but putting them up wa easy.

There are a couple garage door guru's on here and hopefully they can guide you correctly, I just got done installing my 2 - 10' garage doors. It would seem to me that you get by with Not installing one of the panels (I guess it would work) Instead of installing 6 panels, put up 5 ( sounds logical ) or can you get a 10' door cheaper than that? I got lucky and took my doors down off a building that was being tore down.

Measure the panels, most are less than 24", leave a center one out to make it close to 10' then cut the side rails. This will work as long as you still have the required clearance above the door.

That is a sheet door not a sectional door. Insulation isnt great but better than nothing.

I am a little confused about what you want to do installation wise.

What you are talking about will be fine. Being a roll up door, the door stops where the header begins, at least in my experience. On all of the roll up doors I have seen, there are little "tabs" on the outside that keep the door from rolling up on itself. So if the door is taller than the opening, no big deal.

We don't normally install roll up doors, but I think we did one this way once.

I have three of them, installed myself (one helper) There is a video on the installation. I purchased mine from https://www.steeldoordepot.com/garage-door/Roll-up.

Seems a little high on the price not sure exactly which model he has but I do not believe I paid much more than that new. I waited till they had a special on them.

While I had some shipping damage Steel Door responded quickly and sent a new door and rail.

Not to hi jack this thread, But... This door is a coiling door so it would not apply..
It was mentioned on this thread that if you have a sectional door and it is to tall to just not use a panel. The problem with this is the springs are engineneerd for the weight of the door and making any major change in weight will make it so the door will not balance properly. Meaning it will go up by it self or drop depending on how the springs are wound. If you do this get the weight of the door and have springs made for it.

The cables will be to long as well but not too big of deal.
